Britney Spears Still Not Fit To Participate In Court Proceedings, Judge Says

Though she has appeared to make great strides since her forced hospitalizations for psychiatric evaluations earlier this year, Britney Spears is still not well enough to take part in court proceedings. That was the judgment Thursday of Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz, who ruled that Spears cannot participate in "any meaningful way" in legal proceedings tied to her court-ordered conservatorship, The Associated Press reports.

"It's my understanding that her condition is somewhat tenuous," Goetz said, according to E! Online. The commissioner suggested that Spears may need further medical examination to determine whether to dissolve or make permanent her conservatorship, which gives Spears' father, Jamie, control of her financial and personal affairs. The conservatorship was set up in early February, after the singer was rushed to the hospital for the second time in a month on a "5150" hold for a mental-health evaluation.

After a private 90-minute discussion with lawyers in the case, Goetz said in court that the singer's doctor had made a "differential diagnosis," and wants to do "additional testing in the not-too-distant future — something we will need to address in June." The judge is scheduled to rule on the conservatorship in a July 31 hearing.

According to E! Online, Spears' court-appointed attorney, Sam Ingham, agreed that "it could be harmful" for her to participate in the proceedings.

No additional information was revealed by lawyers about what was discussed in Goetz's chambers, and the commissioner did not make any rulings in open court other than announcing that a business plan for Spears should be filed by her attorneys by June 13, the AP reported.

Sex & The City Feud Continues At Premiere

They may have been all smiles on the red carpet but the long-running feud between Sarah Jessica Parker and her Sex & The City co-star Kim Cattrall is apparently far from over.

Despite the public show of solidarity at the world premiere of the movie version of the hit TV show in London on Monday night, Kim reportedly refused to watch the film with the other actresses - and then left before it finished.

A source told the Daily Mail, "It's that bad. Kim can't stand her. It's no secret among those who worked on the film.

"But of course both are professional and have not let the rivalry get in the way of doing the public face of the job."

After at first insisting that all four stars watched the film together, publicist Ruth Dallatt acknowledged that Kim did leave the cinema in Leicester Square to have dinner with Mario Cantone, who plays wedding planner Anthony.

She explained, "The reason that Kim and Mario did not watch the film is that they promised their families that they would watch it for the first time together at the premiere in New York."
